Learn from my stupid. Negligent Discharges happen

Tonight, I had my first Negligent Discharge. After cleaning my CMMG conversion kit for my AR-15, I reinstalled the kit into my carbine. I do not own any 22 snap caps- so I cycled a live round to insure it was feeding properly. I then dropped the mag, cycled the bolt a few times (which I thought ejected the round) and dropped the hammer with the gun pointed toward the floor.

And promptly shot my basement floor.

I failed to visually inspect the chamber to insure the weapon was unloaded. Thankfully, no one was hurt (aside from my pride).

Always ALWAYS ALWAYS visually inspect the chamber!

No matter how many times you cycle the bolt, INSPECT THE CHAMBER!

If I had done so (as any person should) I would not feel like a fucking idiot.

Here's to hoping no one else is as stupid as I am.  I have linked this post to my #1 rule of firearm safety on the sidebar. Maybe while I learn some humility others can gain from my mistake.

Thankfully I had the gun pointed in a safe direction.

Don't delete my comments, man. It makes you look bad. It makes you look like someone who can't accept disagreement.

I give you a lot of credit for posting the incident as a way of helping others. That in itself could indicate that you're an exception to my rule.

I'm glad no one was hurt too and I apologize for coming on too strongly.

I've always been nice to you- and you have always been demeaning and argumentative.

Your comment was both of those things. I will not stand for it. You will post respectfully or you will not post. Your decision.

I have always allowed comments to be open here on all opinions. You know this. You crossed a line though and I will not apologize for not leaving it up.

you are welcome to post here and leave comments for debate. Not attacks on individuals.
