in May of 2011, I reviewed 3 cproduct 1911 mags I had purchased during a sale at LCJ wholesalers. The price on these mags is currently 9.95- a two dollar increase from when I purchased them. The finish I had previously thought to be park'd appears now to be a flat phosphate style finish.
Since May of last year, I have continued to use these mags for range and hunting use (as was intended). A few things have changed in that time, so I wanted to offer up a rejoinder to the internet gods so that the quality of these mags can be saved for posterity.
First, the magazines have always been 'so-so' when it came to locking back the slide on most of my 1911 style guns. Well, such is not the case anymore. These mags are now completely consistent insofar as they will not lock bag the slide at all on any 1911 I have tried them in.
They continue to feed well and I have not had problems with FTF, FTE, or any other 3 letter acronym for screw-up, but I still have no better an opinion of them now than I did before.
I will say this- they are not worth 10 bucks each. Absolutely not. 8 was about as high as I would go on these, and frankly I think they should have been in the 5 or 6 dollar range like the old DPMS 7 rounders (which also are not that bad actually).
For the money they cost now- I have to say the CProducts / LCJ wholesaler 1911 mag has moved into the DO NOT BUY category. I may drop in some metalform followers and springs into a few of the bodies to see if I can improve their function, but seriously, if they cost more than 6 bucks- leave em on the table.
It pains me to say it as CProduct rifle mags I think are actually pretty solid. I rebuilt a few NYS pre-bans with CProduct parts with no issues. Their 9mm AR mags also always seemed solidly made. They just totally did not meet expectations though for a really affordable and quality mag in the 1911 platform.

I always watch for Brownell's to run a CMC sale on the blued versions for around $12 each. I've never had a problem with those, and picking up a half dozen at a time isn't so bad.
good call on the CMC :)
